Junior doctors expected ‘to vote for strikes’ in contract ballot

The ballot comes after thousands of doctors held protests over the contract dispute.

So far, three strike dates have already been planned, including 1, 8 and 16 December, with ministers expressing concern about walkouts harming patients.

As the dispute threatens to escalate, the Academy of Medical Colleges will call for both sides to agree to independent arbitration at the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS).

Overall, two thirds of the 55,000 junior doctors in England have been balotted by the British Medication Assocation (BMA).
