Fujifilm’s Device Technology division supplies multifunction printers, single-function printers and software solutions for printing and document management. Its Apeos portfolio draws on more than 90 years of Fujifilm imaging experience and over 60 years of toner technology development by Fujifilm Business Innovation, the Japanese company that develops and manufactures the devices.

Fujifilm Business Innovation is the number one supplier of A3 multifunction printers in the Asia Pacific region*1. Since introducing Apeos in the UK and Italy in 2024, Fujifilm has expanded availability across Europe, including France, Spain, Poland, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, with further European launches planned over the coming months. Fujifilm works with specialist partners that supply equipment and provide local service and support.

For UK healthcare organisations, the portfolio offers equipment for patient correspondence, referral documents, staff records, information leaflets and daily departmental administration. Apeos multifunction printers combine printing, copying and scanning, while ApeosPrint single-function models serve locations that only need to print. The range includes A3 and A4 devices in colour and monochrome.

Fujifilm’s Born Ready approach centres on four areas where the range excels: Smart, Secure, Sustainable and Dynamic. These cover the range’s document handling tools, information security controls, energy and resource saving technologies, and configurations for different workloads and premises.

Simplifying scanning and document handling

Apeos multifunction printers help staff convert paper documents into digital files. Selected models scan both sides of a sheet in one pass, while automatic settings straighten pages, correct their orientation and remove blanks. These functions reduce the manual adjustments needed when an administrative team scans a batch of incoming correspondence.

With the appropriate configuration, optical character recognition makes scanned text searchable, allowing staff to locate a name or phrase within a file. Preset scanning instructions let users send documents to agreed destinations without repeatedly entering folder or recipient details.

Fujifilm also works with software providers, including PaperCut and Tungsten Automation, to offer print and document capture tools. Depending on the solution, organisations can manage user access, monitor printing and establish document processes across connected devices.

Protecting confidential information

Fujifilm’s Apeos security controls protect access to documents, device data and software. Secure print release holds jobs until an authorised user identifies themselves at the printer, helping prevent patient letters or staff records from sitting unattended in a shared output tray.

Administrators can restrict device functions through user permissions, with card authentication available as an option. Encryption helps protect stored information and data transmitted between the printer and other systems. Software checks help detect tampering and prevent unauthorised software from running.

Reducing energy use and paper waste

Fujifilm has developed Super EA-Eco toner that needs less heat to bond to paper, reducing power consumption. Most Apeos models use this toner, while the recently launched Apeos C3567 and C3061 series use a new ELFEAT toner which takes this one step further, further reducing the power required to print documents. Lower energy LED printheads and power saving functions also help reduce power consumption. On supported devices, a smart power saving function activates only the components needed for the selected task.

Organisations can set double-sided printing as the default, halving the sheets required for suitable documents. Users can also delete unwanted jobs before releasing them at the printer.

Fujifilm’s Circular Manufacturing Centre in the Netherlands collects used toner cartridges from European customers for remanufacturing. The process includes disassembly, cleaning and inspection to prepare cartridges for reuse.

Equipment for different healthcare needs

Fujifilm offers compact A4 devices for smaller work areas and A3 models for departments that need larger paper sizes or additional capacity. Buyers can select printing speeds, paper trays and scanning functions according to the volume and type of documents their teams handle.

Selected colour models meet the needs for the highest possible quality, reproducing fine text, diagrams and images for patient leaflets and training materials. Paper handling options support envelopes and different paper weights, while finishing functions such as stapling (and even “staple-free” stapling), reduce manual preparation of multipage documents.

Apeos touchscreens let users save frequent settings and personalise the home screen. Similar controls across A3 and A4 models help staff move between devices with ease. Remote support options on selected models also allow technical teams to investigate problems without always attending the site.

Features, software and service arrangements vary by model and provider. Healthcare buyers can discuss these options with a Fujifilm partner, including the support available and the costs of consumables and servicing.
