Dr Buki Adeyemo, chief executive of North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust, has been appointed as the new chair of the NHS Confederation’s Mental Health Network. This follows Ifti Majid stepping down in April. The Mental Health Network represents NHS and independent sector providers of mental health, learning disability, and autism services.

Dr Adeyemo joined the NHS in 1997 and brings over two decades in NHS experience to the role, having become a respected leader in mental health services. She has also served on the Mental Health Network advisory board for the past two years, representing NHS chief executives.

On her appointment, Dr Adeyemo said: “I really value the work of the network and the support it gives to its members across the NHS, particularly during this time of change.

"I’m excited to step up into the chair role and have the opportunity to make the most of the unique position the network holds to influence policy, support shared learning and work with members to improve what we are able to deliver to people who experience mental illness and our communities.”
