Self-sufficient Integrated Care Centre topped out
Construction

Trowbridge Integrated Care Centre has officially been 'topped out', with construction of the £16 million site having reached its highest point.

The occassion was attended by NHS Property Services representatives and leaders from Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board, alongside NHS colleagues due to relocate to the building, the Mayor of Trowbridge and officials from Wiltshire Council.

Once complete, the centre will be one of the country’s first completely self-sufficient NHS buildings.

It is expected to be finished before the end of the year, with doors opening to patients in early 2026.

The centre will become the new location for all health and care services, including the minor injury unit and X-ray department, currently based within nearby Trowbridge Community Hospital.

Andrew Strange, estates strategy Lead for NHS Property Services in the South, said: “It’s fantastic that this exciting project has reached this pivotal milestone. We are very pleased to have enabled the delivery of this super integrated care centre which we know will enable our NHS colleagues, across different specialisms, to work more collaboratively and deliver excellent care to patients in a fantastic, state of the art environment at the heart of the local neighbourhood.”

Caroline Holmes, interim executive lead for cancer, planned care and community, Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board, gave a rooftop speech to thank those who had come along for bringing the new centre to life.

She said: “When the very first spades went in the ground, it was difficult to picture how a brand-new health and care facility could emerge from what was essentially a very muddy field. Yet here we are. The building work is well underway; the finish line is firmly in sight and local people can now see their new integrated care centre really begin to take shape.”
