The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has issued guidance on medicines and medical devices for the summer.
People are reminded to store medicines below 25 degrees C and to check their medicines and devices in the heat.
Advice has been issued to prioritise hydration and heat awareness and sun-smart with sun-sensitising medicines.
Those travelling with implanted medical devices (e.g. pacemakers) are reminded to implant ID card at airport security.
Dr Alison Cave, Chief Safety Officer at the MHRA, said: “When the sun comes out and the thermometer rises, it’s easy to forget that heat can affect medicines and medical devices, and that some treatments can change how you respond to sun and heat. These refreshed summer tips are vital to help people stay safe and well throughout the summer.”
