West London NHS Trust (WLT) has announced that Dr Claire Dillon has been appointed as the Trust’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

Dillon has worked at WLT since 2009, initially joining as a consultant forensic psychiatrist before taking up roles as a clinical lead and clinical director in the Trust’s High Secure and West London Forensic Services over a period of seven years.

She said: “I feel privileged and grateful to be taking up the role of Chief Medical Officer at West London, an organisation I have been proud to be a part of for so many years.

“I look forward to bringing my experience across the full spectrum of the Trust’s services to the role and working more closely with the Trust Board, our system partners and professional bodies.

“I am passionate about service user, carer and population engagement and supporting a diverse workforce to deliver outstanding care, and will continue to be a strong advocate for this in my new role.”

Since 2021, Dillon has been the Trust’s director of Integrated Community Health Services.

During this time, she has overseen a growing number of community healthcare and primary care services across Ealing, Hounslow and Hammersmith and Fulham, which today represent a third of the Trust’s services.

Maria O’Brien, chief executive at WLT, said: “I am delighted that Dr Dillon will be joining the Trust Board as our new Chief Medical Officer.

“Dr Dillon’s depth and breadth of experience across mental health and community services is a real asset, and I look forward to working more closely with her as we seek to deliver the best possible care for our patients and best working experience for our staff.”

Her appointment follows the recent announcement that the Trust’s CMO, Professor Derek Tracy, has been appointed as CMO at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

A start date will be confirmed shortly.
