NHS England has launched the Healthcare Chefs' Knowledge book with the aim of showcasing the latest advancements in patient, staff, and visitor catering.
It will help senior trust managers and chefs put the recommendations of the Hospital Food Review into action.
The book is the second in the series produced by The Chefs' Forum in partnership with Great British Bake Off host and chef Prue Leith, along with the NHS Food Review.
Catherine Farinha, director of The Chefs’ Forum, added: “This is a much-needed book and following on from the launch of The Chefs’ Knowledge last year, we have brought our publishing skills to the NHS.
"We have worked across the board, interviewing chefs, clinicians, doctors, dieticians, patient groups and NHS food supply experts, to gather as much up to date knowledge as we could."
Since the 2020 Independent Review of Hospital Food was released, the NHS has been pushing to have better food on the menu in healthcare settings.
It contains over 100 NHS-approved recipes, and copies of the book are being send to every NHS Trust in England.
