When it comes to fire safety, innovation and reliability are paramount in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors. Apollo Fire Detectors Ltd’s comprehensive range of products, including the Soteria Dimension Optical Detector, is designed to meet the unique challenges of modern healthcare settings. These solutions offer advanced features, seamless integration, and enhanced safety protocols, ensuring optimal protection and efficiency in hospitals.

The Soteria Dimension range showcases Apollo’s commitment to finding solutions for key challenges that do not yet have solutions. This innovative product comes in two variations – the Soteria Dimension Optical Detector, and Soteria Dimension Specialist Optical Detector, both of which incorporate unique optical sensors that streamline the design and enable flush-mounting. Not only this, but Soteria Dimension Specialist has been designed with anti-tamper screws and has been certified for anti-ligature use.

Enhanced Compatibility and Compliance

Backward compatibility ensures seamless integration with all legacy Apollo systems, eliminating compatibility concerns and spiralling costs that can be incurred when installing an additional fire system. The Soteria Dimension range has also been created with future systems in mind, helping to future proof effective operation with new systems.  The devices undergo rigorous in-house and third-party testing, providing users with the assurance of compliance and reliability.

The Soteria Dimension Specialist Optical Detector has been tested to meet the requirements of Ministry of Justice specification STD/E/SPEC/038 and has also independently certified to DHF TS0001 for anti-ligature use in specialist areas.

Reduces Risk of False Alarms

The Soteria Dimension detectors have been fitted with chamberless technology. While operating principles are the same as a regular detector, Soteria Dimension uses a combination of Infra-Red (IR) LED’s and photo-diodes to identify smoke particles outside of the detector housing. Alongside this, the detector uses advanced drift compensation which adjusts the sensitivity based on the build-up of dirt to prevent it misinterpreting dust for fire. Soteria Dimension also has intelligent sensing of foreign and transient objects! This technology in combination with a completely sealed casing reduces false alarms from insect ingress and dust.

The detector has been designed to withstand the HPV decontamination process, which has grown rapidly in popularity due to its proven, broad-spectrum efficacy. Soteria Dimension underwent 1300 cycles across a 9-month period during the testing process, and there were no false alarms reported during that time.

Supports Patient & Staff Safety

The standard design of a fire detector does not meet anti-ligature and anti-vandal requirements due to the possibility of removing the detector from its base, which in turn reveals the wiring and can be a danger to both patients and staff. Complex challenges such as this are the reason Apollo designed and manufactured the Soteria Dimension Specialist Optical Detector. This specialist detector has been manufactured with safety in mind as it minimises safety hazards, whilst maintaining continuous fire system integrity. The shock resistant metal faceplate is fitted with anti-tamper screws ensuring that the detector is completely secure.

“Due to the nature of the product, a lot of forethought is required prior to installation to ascertain the correct location, as failure to do so may result in issues. Apollo’s involvement throughout the duration of the project was faultless and the end result was exactly what the client required. Because of its anti-vandal and anti-ligature design, Dimension has a multitude of unique benefits for sectors like healthcare and we will continue recommending and using it wherever possible.” - Richard Lipscombe Sales Director, Aylesbury Fire.

Simplifies Maintenance

Built-in isolation provides the option to identify detectors present when dusty work is being conducted in the same space as the detector, allowing you to isolate them from the system. This removes the need to detach the detector when work is taking place. Comprehensive support tools available on Apollo’s website further shorten installation time and maximise productivity.

The Path Forward in Fire Safety

Soteria Dimension is a highly engineered product, resolving specific safety challenges in unique healthcare environments. The flexibility of the Apollo system allows for a combination of components between standard detector ranges and Dimension to ensure the most cost-effective allocation of resources.

Fire detection in hospitals takes a lot of forethought and effort to get right, and there are many challenges to consider when designing an optimal system. Apollo’s Soteria range including Soteria Dimension can be utilised to solve unique problems that health care facilities face.
