The GS1 UK Healthcare Conference 2025 will take place on 29–30 April at the QEII Centre in London. Centred on the power of data and digital to transformation patient care, this unique event focuses on the transformative benefits of GS1 standards and point of care scanning (Scan4Safety) in healthcare.
Scan4Safety is a pioneering initiative that was initially launched by the Department of Health and Social Care in 2016. Six NHS trusts in England were tasked with implementing GS1 standards and point of care scanning with the aim of improving patient safety, traceability, operational productivity and supply chain efficiency.
The Scan4Safety programme is focused on unique identification using standards and is structured around four key pillars (the 4Ps): people, product, place, and process.
The conference and exhibition will bring these elements to life featuring:
- 50+ speakers
- 40+ sessions
- 40 sponsors and exhibitors
- 10 hours of CPD accredited content
- Two exciting networking events
Sessions and discussion will be centred around four themes, each one reflective of the Scan4Safety four 4Ps:
- Patient safety and interoperability (person)
- Product traceability and sustainability (product)
- Location identification and efficiency (place)
- Engagement and implementation (process)
The agenda is expertly structured to give attendees a mix of strategic insights from policy makers in the plenary sessions, implementation case studies from trusts and healthcare suppliers in the breakout stages, and deep-dive roundtable discussions to unpack challenges and gain tangible takeaways.
Topics and case studies will explore:
- the government’s three priorities for healthcare, particularly driving the shift from analogue to digital
- building blocks for NHS reform and digital transformation
- preventing unnecessary patient harm through unique identification of patients
- improving the traceability of products to feed into national registries
- the pressing need for interoperable electronic patient record systems
- medicines safety and supply chain integrity
- NHS England’s New Hospital Programme
- Scan4Safety rollout across the UK and Ireland
The event is also run with the support from innovative and influential partners. Key sponsors include Genesis Automation and AdviseInc, with several leading healthcare solution providers also exhibiting.
