UKHSA issues heat health alert

The UK Health Security Agency has issued a heat-health alert, in place from midday on Tuesday until 11pm on Sunday.

The public have been urged to look out for those who may be vulnerable in the hot weather, including elderly people who live alone and those with underlying health conditions.

The Met Office has issued a Level 3 - Heatwave Action alert with parts of England forecast to reach 35 degrees again towards the end of the week and the weekend.

The Met Office has asked the public to look out for others including the elderly and young children and babies and those with underlying health conditions, as well as giving guidance on how to stay cool.

Level 3 requires social and healthcare services to target specific actions at high-risk groups. NHS England has said that hot weather could increase health risks to vulnerable patients.
