GPT Consult is an industry leading firm of authorising engineers & technical advisors. Our team of experienced, IHEEM registered engineers can support with a range of specialisms within healthcare engineering.
Founded by Graham Taylor over 10 years ago, the business has grown from strength to strength to be one of the largest authorising in the UK. We have a team of authorising engineers covering the whole of the United Kingdom.
AUTHORISNG ENGINEERS
Historically we have specialised in Ventilation, with our recent expansions now have engineers that cover Pressure Systems, Confined Spaces, High Voltage, Low Voltage, Water and Lifts. This gives GPT Consult a unique ability to support our clients with a range of disciplines to suit their needs.
CAPITAL PROJECTS
Our experienced team of engineers can assist you in ensuring that your new Capital or Refurbishment Projects are compliant with best practice NHS Guidance and best value. We can peer review design proposals for compliance. We can inspect and witness all engineering systems during the construction and commissioning journey. We will independently validate and ‘sign-off’ on behalf of the trust or client on completion.
MAINTENANCE AND SYSTEMS IMPROVEMENT
We can condition survey, inspect, risk assess and provide scopes of work for the improvement and upgrade of all ventilation systems to comply with current HTM standards. This can include a review of management arrangements allowing a holistic view to be taken. Such work can improve the performance and lifecycle of AHUs and allow replacement programmes to be funded and implemented over several years.
PFI COMPLIANCE REVIEW
With the upcoming maturity of many PFI projects, we are able to support the transition, this could be through an audit of the performance and condition of ventilation systems with a formal report of lifecycle, current performance, and compliance with original design and the PFI contract.
SUPPORT FOR OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT TEAMS
We can aid and support your local management teams by way of remote or on-site presence. We acknowledge that all organisations are different and as such any service specification will need to be bespoke for your requirements. Previous support has been provided to a number of NHS Trusts with deliverables including: the development of appropriate policies and procedures, management plans, investment programmes, risk profiling, authorised person(s), infrastructure management, review of RAMS, operational advice & guidance and incident investigations.
TRAINING SPACE
Opened in 2023 at our office in Leicestershire we have a dedicated training space. Running a range of courses on Ventilation and Pressure Systems. We also offer bespoke and specialist training to support NHS Trusts, Facilities Management companies and other organisations that may require.

Graham is the founder of GPT Consult and has worked in healthcare for over 40-years as an Estates Officer, Consulting Engineer and for the past 10-years Authorising Engineer and Technical Adviser specialising in critical ventilation and associated systems. His particular interest and expertise is operating theatre ventilation
Louise Clark BSc., MIHEEM
Technical Director
Louise started her long and distinguished NHS career in Leicestershire before working across numerous roles and trusts around the UK. Louise joined GPT Consult in Q1 2024 from Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust where she was Associate Director of Engineering. Louise has experience with all aspects of healthcare engineering bringing a unique insight to GPT Consult. Louise’s new position as Technical Director in our expanded team will allow her to support Graham in our varied capital project work, and also out with our clients providing technical advice and as an Authorised Engineer.
Paul Crothers MSc, MIHEEM, MIET, MSVHSoc
Senior Authorising Engineer
After twelve years in the Royal Navy as a Marine Engineering Artificer on nuclear submarines, Paul gained an MSc in Building Services Engineering before working in several roles as a designer, installer, operator and maintainer of various engineering systems and as a Senior Estates Officer within an NHS Trust. After 6 years training APs and AEs, Paul accepted his first Authorising Engineer role in 2012 and worked as an AE for three companies before joining GPT Consult in February 2022
Roy Ridler
Senior Engineering Manager
Roy started his engineering career with an apprenticeship in the Navy, before moving into healthcare. He has worked for the last 35 years in various roles across several NHS Trusts, including Director of Estates & Facilities. Roy has worked for GPT Consult for several years supporting our clients with Ventilation and Pressure Systems, his drive is for good quality maintenance to enable everything to perform as it was intended
Mahesh Mistry MBA, BEng.(Hons), FCMI, CMgr, MIET, MIHEEM
Senior Engineer
Mahesh started his engineering career in the chemical manufacturing industry as an apprentice electrician then progressing into the design and projects office, before moving into building services consultancy and the Police service followed by over 14 years in a busy estates department of an acute NHS hospital overseeing the maintenance and engineering systems as the Assistant Director of Estates before moving to GPT Consult Ltd in 2023. Mahesh has significant experience in design, project management and maintenance.
